Event Date(s): Wednesday, Sep 1 - Monday, Feb 28
Want to rule the world? This program can help you get there.
(For High School Students Only)
STARTING IN SEPTEMBER 2010
Local YMCA students have the opportunity to attend a Legislative weekend at the State Capitol in Sacramento and meet other youth from around California to work on their legislative agenda and bills.
YMCA Youth & Government uses the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to teach teens in grades 9-12 how they can participate in the democratic process. Participants have opportunities to develop skills, make friends and learn how they can make a difference in their community and state.
The motto of YMCA Youth & Government is ‘Democracy must be learned by each generation’ and we work toward that goal by teaching that every person can make a difference and that understanding and participating in government is for everyone.
This program starts in September and will run for 6 months. There will be a weekly meeting for you to attend. (Date TBD) There will be three (3) conferences that you will attend. The cost of the program is $199.00.
